David Lee Smith
David Lee Smith, age 65, of Carlisle died on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at his residence. Born in Harrison County on Sept. 25, 1946 to the late Roy Thomas Smith and Bessie Cook Smith Tapp, he was a former Ladish employee, farmer and carpenter. Mr. Smith was a Vietnam Army Veteran, a member of Rose Hill United Methodist Church and the American Legion, and was the chairman of the Nicholas County Fire Department board of directors.
He is survived by his wife, Janie Henry Smith; a son, Emmett Smith of Carlisle; a daughter, Anita Smith (Kenny Quinlan) of Carlisle; a brother, Larry Thomas Smith of Nicholas County; two sisters: Rita Smith of Nicholas County and Rhoda Kathryn Jones of Trenton, Tennessee; two stepsisters: Alice (Jim) Hughes and Phyllis (Butch) Alexander, both of Carlisle; two grandsons: Jarred Buckler and Eric Spivey; four great-grandchildren: Serenity, Kylee, Kalee and Jarred, Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jesse Curtis Smith, and a sister, Nancy Louise Smith.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at Ware Funeral Home by Bro. Howard Livingood and Bro. Joe Duncan. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Trevor Fuller, Darrell Boone, David Tincher, Jarred Buckler, Eric Spivey and Doug French. Honorary pallbearers were Don Caskey, Kenny Mattox, Louis Fryman, Stanley Morris, Dale Hill, Larry Tincher, Jimmy Price, Arnold Payne, Jr. and Dougie McCord.
